Jones' childhood was difficult because she was the sole child of a mother with a large family. Her mother and she lived at a basement church and was constantly in motion. Jones her nomadic life forced her to change schools each year, until she reached high school. Jones who was interested in the track events during her time at Theodore Roosevelt high school, was able to live in a different place from her mother so that she could pursue her interests. Jones lived with four different families to keep her study focused. Jones was awarded an award called the Gatorade Iowa Track & Field Athlete of the Year Award during her time at school. She also was a part of the orchestra at school, playing cellist. Jones was a college student when she went to college, was recognized as one of best hurdlers. She was the winner of the 100-meter hurdles at the NCAA Track & Field Championship. Jones was also part of the second-placed team in the 100-meter relay. Jones is the NCAA champion in indoor hurdles in both 2003 and 2014. Jones has been training since 2005 when she graduated from her education. Jones won Torino Memorial in 2005, as well as Ostrava and Heusden races the following year.

Brandt was raised and born in Cape Town in South African. She emigrated from Cape Town to Auckland New Zealand with her family during her late teens. Brandt was spotted locally by casting directors. She was then offered the role of Naevia on the Starz sensation Spartacus Blood and Sand and Spartacus Gods of the Arena. She was one of the most prominent actors in this series, working with Steven S. D Knight and Sam Raimi. She was a part of the cult Netflix show Lucifer which had a 6 year run. She played the beloved comic book character from DC/Vertigo Mazikeen. Forbes has ranked Lucifer the show with the highest amount of binge-watching of 2021. Brandt is next seen in a 6-episode Walking Dead limited spin-off starring Andrew Lincoln and Danai Giurira that will premiere in 2024. In the summer of 2023's Netflix adult-oriented comedy Captain Fall, Brandt stars opposite Jason Ritter Anthony Carrigan Chris Meloni. Lesley Ann Brandt, born December 2, 1981 from Cape Town South Africa. She is an accomplished New Zealand actress. Lesley Brandt along with the rest of her family relocated to Auckland New Zealand, in 1999. The year 1999, in Auckland Brandt began her career as a Retailer, then got promoted to IT Management Consultant. After a few modelling projects, Lesley appeared in many commercials. She completed her acting major and further trained in Meisner ways of learning. Lesley's debut prominent role in New Zealand was as a TV actor on Diplomatic Immunity. Lesley Brandt has shown up on The New Zealand TV drama series Shortland Street with a supporting appearance. In a subsequent sci-fi adaptation This Is Not My Life she played the town of Waimoana. Lesley Brandt starred in the show Spartacus: Blood and Sand as Naevia the hostage. She then appeared in Spartacus: Gods of the Arena Miniseries.
