Maria Menounos

Maria was helping her mother suffering from Stage 4 cancer of the brain. The doctor told her that she was suffering from an extremely serious health condition. In February 2014 Menounos started experiencing troubling symptoms. In an exclusive story in PEOPLE Menounos, she reveals she was suffering from headaches and lightheadedness on sets. "My speech was slurred. Additionally, I was having trouble comprehending the teleprompter." An MRI showed that Menounos suffered from a large golf ball-sized meningioma brain tumor which was pushing into her facial nerves. Menounos scheduled an appointment with her mom's physician, famous Neurosurgeon Dr. Keith L. Black who scheduled the surgery on June 8, her 39th birthday. He told her, "I am 98 percent sure that it's benign but we'll never know until we are in there," The lengthy procedure took seven hours and the doctor. Black was capable of eliminating 99.9 percent of the benign tumor. She claims that Dr. Black claimed that it's feasible to observe the tumor return in between six and seven percent of the cases. Yet, I'll accept these odds at any moment. Menounos has been home since an extended stay of six days in the hospital.
